Mt Hood Oregon

Today brought some sun so we traveled to a town called Government Camp then a little way farther to Trillium Lake where I shot this image. The history of this little settlement reminds me of the old West joke about asking how this town came to be. The answer is, it's where their horses died. It is nearly true of the Army in 1849 while exhausted and half to their cattle dead made it no farther and settled here.
Government Camp is a ski area now near Mt Hood with smaller hills for skiers. It's off season so there are few people there.
