Presidential Inauguration

Lynn Pasquerella (center, at the podium) is receiving applause following her speech marking her formal inauguration today as the new president of Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts.

We're in the college's outdoor amphitheater, where all important general ceremonies take place (most notably the students' graduation each spring (for a blip on that and Mount Holyoke more generally (my wife is an alumna), see here.

It's very late on Thursday--I'll try to expand this comment tomorrow. In the meantime I'll note that the gentleman in the red robe to the right of the new president is the president of the University of Hartford and her former boss (she was provost or chief academic officer there); he gave her an extraordinarily warm, generous and humorous introduction.
