Flag Football--First Game
At 8:00 this morning, Jack, Emily and I headed to Arnold Rue Center for his first flag football game. He received his team shirt--bright red for his team The Cardinals. They practiced a bit and went over the basic premise of the game before getting started. It took awhile for them to get the idea that they only pull the flag from someone who has the ball and is on the opposite team. Jack got a bit "flag-happy" and was pulling flags right and left from anyone who came near him but at the end seemed to understand the flag pulling idea. Another concept that they all had trouble with was stopping when the ref blew his whistle--those little boys ran and ran--waaaay out of bounds chasing one another trying to get a flag. It was rather comical.
Towards the end, Doug arrived after picking Gracie up from a birthday sleep-over. She had a volleyball game at 10:00. She was rather tired from a late night but was able to play well even though her team lost their game. After a lunch at Quiznos we returned home with no further plans for the day.
Tonight Josie and Grant are sleeping in the tent in the backyard. I'm sure they'll get a great night's sleep ;)
