Fading away...

The buildings in the old part of Banepa are slowly crumbling away. These murals too are slowly fading away over time....keepers of the doors to who knows where.

The figure to the left is Ganesh, and the figure to the right is Kumar. They are two sons of Shiva, and (so I'm told) are there to offer protection. Along the top are a number of images of Buddha, which I guess illustrates the way in which Hinduism and Buddhism are closely entwined in Nepal.

Fittingly, just round the corner from here is a Hindu mandir and a Buddhist stupah...
