meat eating plants

today i took my parents for a little walk to a coastal fen. an alkaline wetland along the shores of lake huron. you see, my mother wanted to see some pitcher plants. one type of carnivorous plants found in michigan. i had been to this fen earlier in the summer, stunned by how many of these amazing plants were scattered throughout the area. flowering, you could see the unique flowers sticking above the grasses as far as the eye can see. a field of pitcher plants.

so boy were we happy when the flowers were still visible into the distance, some still in decent condition. and the pitcher plants still thriving. stunning plants, aren't they?
