Swedish Ivy Plant - the Pass it on Plant
I was captivated this evening by the shadows from this plant which is above our TV. I feel too cold to go out to blip and I thought hubby had taken my camera to footy so instead took a picture of the plant on my phone and played around with his software - no idea what I was doing but hey at least I tried - he'll be impressed.
A dear friend told me that there are a lot of Swedish Ivy plants around which are descendants of the plant that was in Bill Wilson's room when he passed away January 24, 1971 in Miami, Florida. Prior to his death, he requested his wife Lois to bring him the plant that he kept on his desk in his office in New York. After his death, Lois took the plant home to Stepping Stones in New York where she cared for it until the mid 80's. Lois gave clippings to people who requested them in memory of Bill hence the name "Pass It On Plant".
Apparently every time you pass it on, 2 new shoots replace the one that was given away and your plant grows stronger. Perhaps thats where I go wrong I dont pass it on!
My plant book says 'Easy to care for, loves sun and likes to completely dry between waterings, place cuttings in water to root and then plant.' Years ago I used to have a collection of plants all grown from cuttings those were the days when I had time...I fail to care for it but when I finally resolve to save it it seems to come to life again...note to self I must try harder!!
Oh yes - I finished playing around and looked on table where I found my camera!
