The Battery

The wee shed in the centre of this picture has a very sad history. It was the place where the dead from the Iolaire were laid out after they were retrieved from the sea, that New Year's morning in 1919. Another 60 were never found. The building is now bricked up and (to my knowledge) not in use anymore.

In the background, you can see a tug and barge moving past the Arnish Lighthouse.
