Heritage Hill District #1
This is the Fox House, now known simply as "The Castle." It was built in the late 1800s for lumber baron brothers, Ethelbert and Charles Fox. It served as a residence until 1922 and since then has been the home of a variety of businesses (it currently serves as a dentist's office and apartments).
Local architect William Robinson modeled it after a Scottish baronial castle but in a Chateauesque-style. I'm not exactly sure what that means but maybe my European friends who are familiar with castles will know. And you thought we didn't have castles in the U.S. :)
The Heritage Hill district holds a number of distinctive, Victorian homes and I will be returning there to share them with you.
