We Remember

And by we, I mean I.

The sign with the boy's face is something I put up. It's definitely not from any department. I put up six on various boards around campus.

Today was the 10th anniversary of the murder of Eric Plunkett, the boy on the flyer. If you Google for "gallaudet murders" you can read all about it. Ben Varner was killed the following February, you'll read about him too.

Very few students at Gallaudet remember those days. I do, and so do some others. I don't know why I put up the signs. I guess to let those who remember know that they're not the only one who does.

Eric wasn't the first student murdered at Gallaudet, though. In August 1980, Justin Wilding was stabbed to death in Benson Hall. Eric died in Cogswell Hall, which was renamed Ballard North after the murders. Ben died in Krug Hall, which became Ballard West.
