still lives

This is on my way back from the cinema this evening. I went to see 'Distant Voices. Still Lives', in the presence of the director Terrence Davies who introduced the film and answered questioned afterwards. He was delightfully flamboyant and enthusiastic, in contrast to my expectations having read interviews with him beforehand. He falls into the category of really great directors, who can't get a film financed in this country due to the constrictions of the british film non-industry. Anyway, the film was spellbinding, and I'm going to get the DVD as soon as I can find it.
