Oooh! Oooooh! Ooooh! Papers
Blip world say "Hello" to Andrea, or as she's known in the Science Faculty, Hayesy, or as she referred to herself tonight "Thick Girl".
Say "Bloody Hell" to the papers you can see on the desk. These are the papers presented to us tonight in our meeting to work on to identify under-achieveing pupils, some of them came to us from hebs and some from the HoF, Darty. It took an hour plus to plough through them and provide reasons for why individuals might be under performing and strategies we might employ to counteract these "failings". Most of them are currently showing a drop of one grade, mainly due to the fact that groups were tested soon after the Summer break in order to get some data for the capture, they will improve, they always do, because coursework and other factors have to be vectored in.
Now say "F**k me!" when I tell you that this is only one side of the desk, on the other side were another pair of lap-tops and an equal amount of paper!!!
I remember when computers made their first appearance in schools ( Yes I am that old. Cheeky sods!) and the big selling point was "The paperless office/classroom."
Some bloody hope, I reckon that me and my paperwork in the last 10 years or so have been personally responsible for the destruction of a medium sized forest!
I did get a fantastic blip of the sunset tonight but decided against it, as this shot was just so illustative of what is happening to the job I love. It used too be about people and discovery, now it's increasingly about jumping through hoops and teaching to tests!
Rant over and at least United stole a win tonight.
There's a beer somewhere in this house with my name on it and I'm going to track it down!
