Ullswater

It's the start of a weekend away for a group of Haltwhistle walkers. We will be based in Patterdale, but today we have travelled as far a Pooley Bridge and then gone for a 6 mile walk. It is a fine day and the views are good. We are in high spirits as the weekend begins; for many of us this is a welcome break from the work of running the Walking Festival.

Every time I visit the Lakes I ask myself why I don't come more often. It is not far away from home. Must plan a longer walking holiday here next year.
