baaaaad weather
pouring with rain and engineering works on the train line to leeds so we plumped for a car boot sale (that turned out not to be on, but there was a nice cafe for a cuppa) and then into skipton.
we spent a couple of hours at the castle, which was fascinating - almost homely-sized yet incredibly well fortified (it held off cromwell for three years) and despite seeming quite small held plenty of points of interest even for seasoned castle-goers like our family.
if the rain had stopped we might have been tempted into a walk along the canal, but it didn't so we settled for a quick wander round the shops (a surprising amount being shut - yes, sunday, but also lots of tourists around) and spotting a few of the sheep around the place (vaguely like cow parade, only with sheep, for anyone familiar with cow parade - if not, click the link!). we didn't see them all (rain, remember) but this was my favourite as i can't resist a good pun: baa-der collie ...
