Sunlit Orrefors

Slightly weird working hours last night. Hit the sack around 10.00, got up again at 2.00 am, worked until 8.00, uploaded first lot of proofs for the client, then back to bed until noon. Now I'm facing into a few more hours of work before heading over to my mate Derek this evening to meet his new Olympus E510. I'll see if I can manage to fit in some more time at the grindstone when I get back home.

Meanwhile, Blip ... There was a niceish morning sky when I was going to bed at 8.00 am, so I rushed outside, stood on a ladder and took some sky shots for just-in-case sake. When I re-surfaced four hours later I was glad I'd done the sky, because the weather had changed to dull grey skies and then blustery showers. And then the clouds passed, the sun came out and I grabbed the camera again. The work thing meant it was going to have to be a shot of an in-house found object, and I do have this fondness for glass objects, so today's model is an Orrefors nightlight holder which I got on a trip to Scandinavia a few years ago (in Copenhagen, I think, even though it's Swedish glass). I set it up in the studio (aka the hall, which catches the afternoon sun nicely at this time of day and year) and quickly snapped a few (which means this is the fourth in a row in what's turned into a 'sunlit' series, starting here).

I narrowed the final choice down to three possibles, finally plumping for this one because I liked its muted colour palette. Alternatives were either more gutsy or more minimalist (and I rather liked the way the sun through the glass gave the impression that the glass thingy was sitting inside double shirt collars in that second one).

NOTE: No smart comments, please, inferring double meanings from the title ;-)
