Jars of Light

Today I wanted to try out an idea that I borrowed from our fellow blipper, Flashead. He had a neat idea of pouring light out of a wheelbarrow.

Good Friday everyone.

Caution Tech Stuff:

After reconfiguring the tripod so the camera would hang upside down a couple of inches above the ground I shot the one and only jar in five different places. In Photoshop I blended those five into one. I then shot the jar on its side and light painted through it's upper most side. I then took several shots of light on the ground pouring from the jar's mouth. In the composite you see one main beam coming down the center line and 2 more off to the sides. These were blurred and colorized. I also took a shot of a single line of bricks which are colorized purple. Finally I added the bush which I stretched repositioned and posterized it.

Some of the 13 layers were masks to prevent light from coming through. The original was very bright and not very interesting. As I started removing light that was passing through the jars it started to take on a much better look and it toned it down.

Finally I flatten everything and added a blur layer copy to take the harshness out. A crop and a touch of sharpness and its out of the oven. Not great but a good first try. Enjoy...
