Washing machine penguins
Backblipped on 2nd October
Last full day in Cornwall and a rather wet one!
Plagued by another blasted helicopter first thing - though was rather pleased I managed to get it in the only gap in the fence.
Then headed off to the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek (complete with waterproofs and brollies!).
The work they do here is amazing - caring for baby seals that have been found on beaches - this one was only a couple of weeks old - and then giving permanent homes to older seals not able to go back to the sea for a variety of reasons.
They've also got some cheeky otters - Starksy and Hutch!
A stunning rock pool with colourful anemones.
And some fun Humbolt penguins.
So we had a good (and very informative!) time watching all the different feeding and training that they do.
Then as the sun then came out we decided to head back to Trebah to see the
views, trees and flowers in the sun!
I just loved this shot though as it summed up the fun we had despite the rain. There's a viewing bubble (shot through that hence the rather poor quality!) in the penguin pool and they were such curious, inquisitive things it was fab watching them. Chasing each other - and our fingers - round and round the glass - got quite dizzy watching them - and Bill was beside himself! What a great 3rd birthday he had!
