Peace
Today's the day ..................... to sing
Have spent most of the day singing Faure's Requiem and the Messe Solennelle by Vierne. Our choir will be performing them in a concert on the 30th October and this was an extra rehearsal - because we need the practice! Fortunately we will have a bit of help on the day because we will be joined by a french choir that we often sing with.
The practice today took place in a lovely little Methodist church in Arnside in the heart of gladders country. It had the most amazing stained glass windows which dazzled with colour when the sun shone outside. This one was called Peace and was inbetween Joy and Love.
I had plenty of time to study them because I sing alto - and as anyone knows, altos suffer, the world over, from musical discrimination. If they are lucky enough to have a composer actually write a line for them, you can be sure most of it will be on the same note. It certainly won't have a catchy tune to it. Our role seems to be to provide harmony for all the other voice parts.
Ah me, it's a tough old life ..............
