Oscar and Constance
On the corner of Merrion Square in Dublin is a fine old house which was once the home of Oscar Wilde. Inside the square, at the same corner and facing the house, is a statue of Oscar himself, reclining on a rock. On the left of frame here is his wife, Constance. You will note that Oscar is casting a glance away however. Out of frame to the right is the object of his glance, the naked torso of a man. All of this probably sums up much of what we know of Oscar but there is no denying his genius as a writer and observer of the human condition.
Just back fron Dublin so please forgive me if I don't get to commenting on your blip tonight. Will try to catch up tomorrow.
Finally, with reference to my "hand" shot from yesterday : This was not, as some wondered, a hand encased in ice. I simply took an old frame, without glass and taped a sheet of baking parchment over the aperture. Placing my hand with fingers touching the inside of the greasproof paper, I shot the photo using the other hand to operate the camera via a cable release.
