From my slightly skewed eyes, after a day stuck in a dark room with my head down a microscope, this looks like the genuine unknown.

What this picture shows no-one knew 2 hours ago, my Professor boss still knows nothing about it. Hot off the scientific press. It's what i love about my science; the abstract beauty of finding new things out.

Admitadly it's a very small bit of the unknown but it will eventually fit in with other bits of information and possibly be part of a publication in a scientific journal some months or years down the line. It will increase our understanding of specific types of proteins that are sometimes involved in human disease.

What is it? This shows the incorrect differentiation of a certain cell type in a dictyostelium with a specific mutanted gene. It is about 1-2mm long.
