Count the legs

Spent a very enjoyable morning doing some more bird ringing at a site half an hour from home. I had to get there by 6am, which meant an alarm call at 4.40! Ouch! We caught about 45 birds in total, including Goldcrests, Bullfinches, Robins, Blackcaps, a Chiffchaff and a few Blue Tits.

Unfortunately I neglected to take any photos, of the birds or of the beautiful display of autumn blackberries, hips, haws, sloes or any of those kinds of things.

So I got home at 2pm and went into the garden. Found these two Backswimmers up to no good in the pond.
