A museum visit
Tonight, after work I went to a talk about the life of a soldier in the Peninsula Wars. It may sound dull, but the speakers were brilliant, so knowledgeable. They dressed in costume and spoke in the 'first person', which is a great way to bring history to life.
Why didn't I get a photo of them? I'm kicking myself for that!
I don't have any friends locally who are interested in history, and I couldn't persuade my son to come with me. I'm fine going to things like that on my own, but I don't have the 'bottle' to ask a stranger to pose for me, especially in a crowd.
Yes, it was a missed opportunity!
This is a box of items that a soldier in WW1 might have had with him.
