Everybody's got something to hide.......
except me and my monkey.
This is my work monkey. He hasn't got a name.
He was bought for me a long time ago by a very special friend.
We have lots of monkeys at work.
Some staff who haven't been here as long as me think the monkeys get passed from person to person carrying jobs with them.
But I was here when the monkeys first arrived.
They used to live in the Boss's offica and spent all their time going up and down ladders depending on if you were in favour or not.
My monkey's been up and down the ladder a lot, sometimes he was very near the top, but with one boss in particular he was so far down the ladder that he needed pit boots and a helmet with a light on the front.
When the current boss arrived I "freed " my monkey. Now he lives in my office enjoying quiet, peaceful days and not having to climb ladders at all.
I like to think he would be about 3/4 of the way up the ladder now, but who knows?
I know what you're thinking...."Why has your office got bars on the window?"
I used to tell the young staff it was to keep me in so I didn't scare anyone, or that I'd done time and liked the view, or that my office was where we kept the wild animals when I first started teaching. In fact my office is in the back of my lab and used to be the animal house (for I while I kept the sign that said 'Animals') but that's not why it has bars.
I used to be the Examinations Officer and all the exam papers and paperwork were kept in my office so it had to be very secure, hence the bars. One weekend someone tried to break in. I wish I'd been there to see their faces after they smashed the window and tried to crawl through only to run face first into iron bars!
Off to watch CSI Miami. "See" you all tomorrow,
Das vidanya!
P.S. If any one wants to suggest a name for my monkey go ahead, I'll pick the one I like best.
