Bristol Avon at Lacock
Today I spent time trying to find further stretches of the old Wilts & Berks Canal between Chippenham and Melksham, below the section I explored yesterday. With the aid of my OS Explorer Map and a very helpful Google Earth Canal Map I knew exactly where it was, but accessing it without trespassing proved impossible at all the points I tried. Perhaps I'll have better luck another time.
Having found that the section that emerged near Lacock on Bowden Hill at the corner of Bewley Lane was now the private entrance to a horse riding school, I walked down to the River Avon.
I was close to the spot where I blipped the angler recently, but this time I took the path on the other side of the road and walked southwards, anxious to get a shot before the light failed. I encountered no anglers, swans, ducks, cows or any living thing, but here is a shot of the river, looking west.
