Wild Man
Sculpture by Ron Mueck
My daughter, FirehorseMia, and I went to the Christchurch Art Gallery to see the Ron Muerk exhibition. It was amazing, but rather disturbing. The sculptures are very lifelike, except the ones that are meant to be dead. Skin appears with subtle irregularities, blemishes, and hair so realistic that you feel a bit uncomfortable at looking so close.
This sculpture was huge. The woman behind was quite tall. Unfortunately, because of the poor light conditions the shot is grainy and fuzzy. I wish I could have captured the fine detail.
It was a beautiful hot, sunny day in Christchurch. Everywhere was colour and life. Quite a change from the quiet greens I am accustomed to.
One year ago: Macro mines.
