Dark energy going, going.....

Cockenzie power station, Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland

This was built in 1967, it uses coal to power its turbines. It stands on the site of an old colliery. It originally burnt the coal from the Lothian coalfield especially the so-called 'super pit' at Bilston Glen. All the old deep mines have gone so it now burns open cast coal from across the central belt of Scotland.

There are plans for it to convert to gas as the fossil fuels threaten to submerge us all.

I used to fish beside it when I was a kid in the 60's and it seemed like the future then.
