Brooklyn Waterfront, Night
Similar to last night, I found myself at 10PM without a blip in the world, so I took off with my bike to find one. I headed towards these warehouses in Red Hook, Brooklyn that line the Brooklyn waterfront.
There's a guard by the entrance to this lot who at first intimidated me, until I learned, from one of them, that the road is actually public. A beer distributor employs the guard to prevent trespassers in the warehouse, where presumably they would find a ton of beer and an unlimited party. The barricades in this photo demarcate where the public area ends and the private warehouse begins. I was tempted to place a toe in the private part where it's not allowed (I know how that sounds), but figured I ought to at least get some photos first.
I liked the look of these exhaust pipes against the night sky so I set up my camera and took a few wide shots. About 5 minutes later a lone car made its way towards me. I could wait another 2 hours and I might not see another car so I clicked the shutter at what I hoped was the right moment and this was the result.
