Margaret Bourke-White.

This morning was very exciting because Margaret Bourke-White's cousin came to talk to the SCCC photographers about her life & how influential her cousin was. It was so fascinating to learn about what a driven, intelligent & very talented woman she was. It was also ironic to hear about the presentation because I decided just the day before to write about Margaret for my mid term paper. The speech was incredible and I felt lucky to have learned some interesting things about her... like personal stories that could only be passed down for generations or private photographs their family has kept. Margaret is someone I admire greatly for her courage & I hope I can have an equally successful journalism career. She wrote in her journal towards the end of her life, "The scenes have changed my consciousness forever." For someone who shot photos of Gandhi, South African mine workers & people during the Great Depression I can only assume it would be amazing. It was such an honor to gain a more personal perspective about this woman whom I admire so much.

"My life was not accident; It was thoroughly planned out" -Margaret Bourke White
