The Pokeberries

This is pokeberries (as they are called around here) or pokeweed. It has several different names. It grows wild here and is a bit of a nuisance at times. It does have a pretty berries in the fall. it was interesting to read all the medicinal & herbalist uses for this plant. The native Americans probably had several uses for this plant. One use could have been the red dye from the berries was used by some tribes to paint their horses. It's not a plant to take lightly and one must know what they are doing with it. It's rather amazing but there are so many ways that some of our common weeds were used many many years ago.
