Show me the way to go home...
It was great day for many reasons today:
I got to immerse myself in some geology and planetary science at the OU's Earth Science open day.
My eldest and I were able to share this together, a joint passion and one to one time, a rarity in our household!
We caught up with friends which was great fun sharing making fossil casts, touching and learning about different rocks produced during volcanic activity and looking at fossilised trilobites and teeth amongst other beautiful artifacts.
My ten year old went up to his hero, Iain Stewart in the cafe after the lecture, clutching his DVD from home (without me, I hasten to add, since I was too star struck/shy to join him) and asked him to sign it. Said Prof. did a great job of making one not so little boy VERY happy!
I got to go on the train (yep, the thrill of train travel still excites me even at 34 years of age!).
My eldest had a toffee shortcake slice and I had a granola bar full of dried cherries on the last leg of the journey home, mmmmm....
This is my son on the 'travelator' (flat sort of escalator) letting it whizz us to the platform at the very end of Piccadilly Station, saving our very tired legs.
