Baby Holding A Baby
This photo just makes me smile. Here is my baby girl (almost three) holding one of my best friend's newborn baby girl.
She kept looking at the baby saying:
"I'n not a baby, I'n a big durl (girl)"
"I'n a big durl, baby".
My little girl is just getting acquainted with a new baby who will most likely turn out to be one of her best friends forever. Our families are very close and have been for years and years. My husband and this couple went to high school together. I came along later but have fit in quite nicely to the group who are more like family than just friends. Our little girls will be close friends. It is inevitable. And it is very special. Watching my baby try so very hard to be gentle with the new baby just warmed my heart. This is the photo that we will have to frame for each of them when they are in high school together.

Emotional Photography. I have decided that 'Emotional Photography' is what really inspires me. If I can catch a special moment or capture a photograph that speaks a thousands words, I feel so completely fulfilled. This evening I played a slide show of the 250 newborn photos that I took in the hospital a couple of days ago. They are all edited and each photo tells a story. Both sets of Grandparents, the big brothers, and the proud Mommy and Daddy all celebrating the birth of a new baby. As the slide show continued, my close girlfriend started to cry. She said that it was first time that she really has cried. She kept saying over and over how beautiful the photos were. I think that is the best compliment that a photographer can receive. An emotional response to a photo is what photography is all about. Raw emotion is what I like to photograph. Raw emotion is what I want to always strive towards because raw emotion is the symbol of life. And photography is about recording life.
On the phone this morning my sister summed these thoughts up quite nicely when she said:
"I just have to tell you this, every single October blip that you have posted has left me in tears".
And I responded,
"I've decided that I'm an emotional photographer now. I plan to focus on flowers less and capture emotion more".
