GODWIT LEGENDS

These birds are what legends are made of. As we know they travel to Christchurch from Siberia & spend the summer here returning later to the Northern Hemisphere. The legend is increased here by the tolling of the Cathedral bells, and the dancing of the Morris Dancers ( oooh - not sure about this bit ).

These little heros voyages are confirmed to us by the tagging process by those that watch them - and one will notice on the bird in the front of this pic - on the right leg is a reg tag - part of this process.
Well done the Bar-tailed Godwits.

I also learned today not to put my pic up before 12 - and to take Daylight saving into account - I was too early. The early worm catches the bird - Ha!!
