Decay

The first to strike you is always the dilapidation and decay. Not just on buildings centuries old with roots scouring through their walls, but in the minds of the city's inhabitants. Unbending opinions and an assumed air of superiority - perhaps fuelled by a rich history - is one of the city's major pitfalls. Which is precisely the reason many find it difficult to move out into a larger world. But like everywhere else, interesting people are there too and I hope I come across a few before my trip is over.
