Where is ?

Established in 1736, the Gourock Ropeworks company moved into the mill building, rebuilding it in 1886. It produced canvas and sailcloth as well as cordage ropes and fishing nets. At its peak it employed over 1,500 men. The Comet (the world's first steamship) was supplied with ropes and the Queen Mary of 1936 with towing Bowsers. Production ended in 1975.
