Birthday Beach Trip - Day Before

My daughter decided that for my fiftieth birthday we would take a family grand tour of Southern California beaches from her home in Long Beach up the coast to Santa Barbara. Our first day dawned perfectly, sunshine and warm temperatures. We hustled out the door and got on the road.

We saw amazing views from our drive around Palos Verdes and had a great early lunch just off the Hermosa Beach Pier (Silvio's Brazilian BBQ, my daughter thought she was in heaven). While walking around Venice Beach later, we happened upon this vacant stretch of beach (save for the sunbather visible under the ramp), even though the weather was amazing. It was the only time on our entire trip that day where there were no people around enjoying the awesome Fall day.
