Drab

Somehow, the ordinary, the drab, can look romantic and interesting, almost exotic, when it's another country.

This, however, is my country. My town, in fact.

Weather-wise, it was a dull day. Nevertheless I thought I would go to the High Street and see what was what and maybe photograph something. With eyes that were seeing, instead of eyes just looking, I was shocked at how drab and dreary everything was! No-one dressed up. Everyone just lumbered around in a depressing sort of way. Fag ends spilled over bin lids. Chewing gum was stuck to the pavement. Doors needed painting, windows cleaned. The window "displays" were laughable. The whole street was shame-filling.

My town markets itself as a holiday town, but this photograph was taken beside the bus stop, on the main street, which every car passes. Will many stop? You decide...
