Wee red chair
This wee red chair has been in Bb's family for over 50 years and it's lovely to have it in our home in Barcelona. There's also a little sewing basket that goes with it (just out of the pic), which is like a stool but which opens up to give storage space. We had them both re-covered a few years ago in the summer we grandly call 'the summer we had the furniture done'! We found a local craftsman who brings back furniture to its original state and we used him to re-do quite a few little bits and pieces we'd acquired over the years and then he referred us to a local upholsterer who did our sofa as well as these little pieces. Our home is a real mish mash of things we've bought over the years from countries we've lived in, as well as various things from both our families. It's a strange mix of old and new, but seems to work for us and it's nice to look around and see our 'Hungarian corner' and our 'Brasilian shelf'! I think I appreciate it all the more after being away for a month. I've just spent the day unpacking from Belfast and Cadaques and am about to pack again now for Scotland! That can wait till after dinner though.....the flight's not till tomorrow morning!
