Men vs Machine

For me this photo sums up the Twilight Sad's gig at the Liquid Room in Edinburgh last night.

The sound was truly awful. The frontman struggled in vain against the mixing desk that strangled, mangled and drowned his vocals.

And the drums were way too loud. And way too unimaginative but that's another story... And it was packed -- the refurbed club seems smaller than the old one -- which is why I escaped to the upstairs bit, which is billed as an "under-18" zone and is DRY.

*Gasp*

I didn't see him but I have it on good authority that Ian Rankin was in the crowd. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.
