Today's the day ............................ to play with the new train

We have a new display for this season where I work, which is all about Quakers and Railways - and the main attraction is a model railway layout. If you push in the button, you can watch the train go round the track, over the viaduct and through the tunnel. Needless to say, it has been a great hit with everyone - young and old!

We were trying out a new locomotive today - a Peppercorn A1 Pacific No 60127 -built by British Rail in 1949. It was named Wilson Worsdell in honour of the renowned locomotive engineer. Wilson Worsdell (1850-1920) was a third generation member of the Quaker Worsdell family, several members of which were very much involved with the development of the early railways.

Our Wilson went like a dream .............!
