The Great Pumpkin Patch
An annual pre-Halloween fundraiser thought up and run by a local Protestant church. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sale of pumpkins are sent abroad to help feed the hungry and the rest is used locally for youth work.
Since Blipfoto is also meant to be a journal, I note for today that I got a flu shot, had a headlight replaced, talked for a nice long while with Elijah, the young man taking care of the Pumpkin Patch, took a short walk and returned the Sony TX1 camera used for my Blips on the 9th and 11th of October.
Elijah's Bachelor's degree was in piano performance and we talked a lot about helping children to start learning to make music at an early age, about putting in those 10,000 hours toward real competence in one's subject and about an excellent and insightful book called, "This Is Your Brain on Music."
As for the camera, while I loved it's elegant design and eminently pocketable size, the quality of its images was just too disappointing. I am glad I could use it for a few days, though, in order to find out for myself, and having macro capability was fun.
All in all, it was quite a pleasant and satisfying day.
