Oddly autumnal

The ten-minute walk to the bus in the morning is horrible. Dodging traffic and rubbish and getting beeped and stared at is one thing, but factor in the morning light illuminating the worrying amount of filth in the air, and even breathing is a chore. This little cup caught my eye because it looked like it was sitting in the middle of autumn, a season which doesn't exist out here.

Work was slightly more interesting than usual due to a late-afternoon meeting the Chairman (the main man), the President and the marketing Girls. I have apparently been chosen to become a 'figure-head' for the university meaning I am expected to waltz around different schools armed with a microphone and a PowerPoint show trying to convince potential new recruits to choose us over our competitors. There was also talk about pictures of me being used in advertising due to my apparent 'handsomeness' (their words). I don't really know what to make of it all, other than that being the best-looking member of staff by pure default (not difficult where I work) rather than actually being relatively easy-on-the-eye is not a point that's lost on me. They disagree, but I couldn't really care less what they want (working in a shit-hole with no air-conditioning or decent toilet facilities will do that to you) and so adopted my casual shaky-head-smug-snort expression through most of the meeting.

Until I spied the Chairman's iPad.

"Give me one of those, and I'll think about it", I joked.

On the way out the door the President told me one is on the way.

This place is nuts.
