Pete in retirement

Helvella crispa (Elphin Saddle)

Had a fungi day: Moore Reserve this morning, lunch in the Ring o' Bells at Daresbury and then Delamere this afternoon where we found this group. I've never seen them before. My book says that they are edible but Wikipedia says that they contain toxins that may be carcinogens. I'll leave them be.
Found some Piptoporus betulinus that must have been at least a foot across and some earth stars, but for me, this was the star of the day.
