The Fragility of Life
We've been eating in a gorgeous bakery every day this week.
Today, we arrived at the same time as an eyewitness to a major accident just along the road.
A regular from the tight knit local community, had left the bakery after his breakfast, walked down the hill, and been hit by a large lorry; he was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
The lovely staff, obviously shaken up, took Sam from us by way of distraction. They appeared, grinning, 10 minutes later, Sam carrying a slice of bread and a wooden spoon.
Once again we were reminded of the sheer randomness of life, how quickly it can be taken away from you, and that you may as well enjoy it while it lasts.
