Thistle Down

By Ethel

My Desire

I do not ask...
To play around.
I've never wanted,
To quite astound.

I only ask,
To make my way.
To do what I should,
Both night and day.

To use my mind,
As my own guide.
To make my search,
Both far and wide.

To use my hands,
To help my soul.
And in the process,
Take control.

O let me be capable,
To stand the test.
And example to all,
And one of the best.
