Russell - The Hell Hole of the Pacific?

Kororareka, (now known as Russell), earned itself a bad reputation being "a community without laws and full of prostitution", and became known as the "Hell Hole of the Pacific".... - sounded like a must see place on my tour of the Northland.

After close investigation, apart from a few rowdy gulls and the odd questionable haircut, it totally failed to live up to this reputation - how things change! ;-)
