WANNA DANCE?

Today was the first official day of the Fete de la Pomme in Mirepoix. It was hard not to show the completed bull, but I thought these dancers captured the gaiety of the fete. I love the expression on the woman's face. And despite a mariachi band that played on and on, these two never seemed to get tired.

There was also a HUGE guitar made of apples. A small child tried to go over and strum a bit, but a typically French woman rushed over to stop her before I could get a photo.

You can buy all sorts of apple treats. It practically obligatory to buy a crustade, a sort of apple tart with a top crust. It's flakey and wonderful... You can also buy different varieties of apples and, of course, apple cider, hard apple cider, and apple brandy. THey'll even give you a taste of the latter to incent you to buy (and to warm you up a little).
