Light and shade

After 3 days of almost continuous cloud when the sun made only the most fleeting appearances and there was no trace of blue sky, the cloud finally broke last night. To celebrate this, shortly after sunrise, I visited my favourite spot on this side of the Kent estuary, and here is the first estuary blip for over a week. This is the view from the Storth prom to Newton Fell in the Lake District.

Back in the garden the honeybees were hard at work in the sunshine, and there is a visible honey comb growing in the protected spot where they have established themselves. I was told they had more or less given up two weeks ago, but in fact they appear to be getting more numerous and active. They were averaging 45 movements into the colony each minute. The workers were returning with their pollen baskets full, mainly collected from ivy I think. If the weather is fine, they could be tomorrow's blip.

Wifie returned from Italy very tired after a missed flight from Pisa and cancelled trains from Leeds. But she's delighted with the progress made in the garden and the house.

ps I was going to blip a portrait of Bob the Cat having finally got him to pose suitably for me, But when I looked at the pictures, he had a huge tick in his ear. That's the trouble with all these megapixels.
