And in spite of waking with a throbbing hangover, the intention was to head to Glasgow delivering cards, a small present and small children to the mother in celebration of her birthday. It's neat that the arithmetic is simple - she's 30 years older than me, I'm 40 years older than Ewan so he can do the sum to work out how much older than him his grandma is. We also had to clarify her needs for a proper present. That was the day really. Sitting in Glasgow drinking tea and watching odd TV, including what must surely be the oddest reality show involving camera crews trailing Eddie Stobart drivers.
We hot footed it home along the motorway and it was quite depressing seeing how nicely the sun was catching Grangemouth. Still, we had to get the bairns home for their tea and a bath so we just kept driving. But as we were passing through Crombie, the sun over Dunfermline was looking rather nice, particularly with the dark clouds. Plus, you need to slow down to 40 at Crombie, making a shot out the car window a possibility. Of course, Mandy was driving.
Having got Ewan to do his drawing for the day - a martian cooking marshmallows - I gave him a treat and got the War of the Worlds on Spotify. Surely Prog Rock's finest hour. Jeff Wayne and Richard Burton.
