High lying mines and quarries
Today was the last day of the 16th Haltwhistle Walking Festival. We have had a ball and hope that the visiting walkers enjoyed themselves too. They seemed to be having a good time.
The long walk was from Alston, high onto the moors to see the sites of old mines and quarries. It was very cold today, after a heavy overnight frost, and the views were lovely. The light is low in the sky now, creating a different perspective on the landscape.
This image was taken as we descended again into the vallye before walking back to Alston. A ten mile walk by streams, near woods, over moorland and bogs, through farmland.
Back blips to follow soon.
