In 1968....
....I hitch-hiked from Aberdeen
down to the British Museum in London
to see a Chinese Pot I had loved
for three years, but only seen in a picture.
I spent these three years trying
to make this pot which I assumed
was at least three or four feet high.
When I found it, it was in a glass case
and was about three inches high.
Yet it was much bigger, much greater,
than I could have ever imagined....
(These bowls, which are mine,
are about nine to ten inches high
and aren't anywhere even nearly as big
as that Chinese Pot.
But I've only been making pots
for forty five years,
so there's plenty time....)
