Fighting Trees

These 2 magnificent oak trees lie at the corner of the Great Meadow. They are on the parish boundary, and are known as the Fighting Trees. When the ruffians of the 2 local villages felt they needed to resolve a dispute with their fists, this is where they met; both gangs walking up the railway line - which is now disused. I imagine they have seen many a battle, but not for a few years.
